Avoiding an ‘Airpocalypse’. Announcing a ‘war on pollution’ Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has pledged to take pre-emptive action against the pollution emergencies the city faces every winter. His secret weapon? A new rapid composting technology he hopes will inspire farmers in nearby rural states to turn their crop waste into fertiliser rather than burning it.

Emmanuelle Charpentier and Jennifer Doudna have been awarded the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for ‘rewriting the code to life’ by developing the tools to edit DNA, or ‘genetic scissors’. The pair are the first two women to share the prize.
